WHAT IS A DOT PHYSICAL?
The Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination is designed to detect the presence of any physical or medical conditions that can effect the ability of the driver to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle safely. The DOT examination must be performed by an FMCSA Certified Medical Examiner.
THE DRIVER SHOULD EXPECT A THOROUGH REVIEW OF HIS OR HER HEALTH HISTORY, INCLUDING:
Past or recent illnesses and injuries
High blood pressure
Muscular disease or weakness
Lung, kidney, liver and nervous system health
THE DOT PHYSICAL EXAMINATION INCLUDES:
Ear / Nose / Throat Exam
Blood Pressure Test
Heart Rate Test
Additional Physical Examinations, as necessary
